My practice explores the language of sound, space and movement through the production of mark-making. The results are sometimes direct visual records of these subjects and can evolve into sculptural works. Graphic scores in music and dance are a key influence.
I work predominantly in monochrome, which allows me to focus on the raw energy of line, form, rhythm and texture. Over the years I have collaborated with experimental sound and movement artists to further understand the dialogue between drawing and sound, and drawing and movement. These interactions often sit between intention and spontaneity, inferring a sense of logic within gestural chance.
